The cost of family caregivers not taking care of themselves is substantial, encompassing financial strain, emotional distress, and physical health issues. Caregivers often face out-of-pocket expenses, lost wages, and career setbacks, while also experiencing increased stress, anxiety, depression, and social isolation. These negative impacts can be especially pronounced for those caring for individuals with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD). To address the challenges family caregivers encounter when tasked with caring for a loved one or friend, Myatt Professional Services has partnered with Powerful Tools for Caregivers
(PTC) to provide a certificate course in the class leader training program.
This evidence-based course offered in-person or virtual is designed for community-based volunteers and professionals to gain an understanding of the best practices to facilitate workshop class series to help caregivers take better care of themselves while caring for a friend or relative for the communities served by their organization.
Through this course, participants will experience portions of the six-week class series as if they were class participants. This experiential learning is invaluable for Class Leaders to successfully serve as models for other caregivers when they co-lead the six-week class. During the training, Master Trainers will effectively model and facilitate each tool from the PTC Program.
